words, words, words.

but the point is through the jokes about him objectifying women the writers are saying that they are against it, hence his ridiculousness.

No I mean I totally get that, and if I thought that everyone who watched that show got that I’d probably have less of a problem with it, but I feel like there are people who watch it and are like “dude, Barney’s so cool! he gets all the ladies! women are so dumb because they always believe the things he says!” and that makes me really uncomfortable. Also, I almost have more of an issue with the way Barney’s “conquests” are portrayed- as being these utterly unintelligent “slutty” women who are too dumb not to believe him when he tells them he is an astronaut or whatever. I know it’s supposed to be a parody of that attitude towards women but it just kind of hits a little too close to home for it to be funny to me, if that makes sense- like, I see those attitudes towards women every day and I know people who think like that (to a lesser degree, of course) and so it’s just personally not something that’s easy for me to laugh at.  I’m not accusing the writers, or people who enjoy the show, of being sexist or misogynistic, it’s just my own personal thing.
